We welcome essays, reported pieces, and creative non-fiction rooted in development.

Submission Guidelines

Vritant publishes original, unpublished work in English. We are particularly interested in pieces that combine research with narrative, and that center voices from the Global South.

What We Publish

  • Long-form essays (2,000–5,000 words)
  • Reported pieces and field dispatches
  • Opinion and analysis (1,000–2,000 words)
  • Multimedia narratives
  • Interviews with practitioners and thinkers

Our Themes

Governance, economic justice, environment, gender, health systems, education policy, digital public goods, and the political economy of development in the Global South.

Response Time

We aim to respond to all submissions within 4–6 weeks. Due to volume, we cannot provide detailed feedback on declined submissions.
